Stationary Studio

For my PR Writing class, I chose to create mock communication materials for Moglea, a company that sells paper goods. I created several owned content for the Moglea website, along with materials for media outreach. Most notably, the thank you speech I wrote for Moglea's co-founder was voted as the best speech by my classmates. The work I produced for this class gave me practice in strategic writing and in presenting a client's unique voice and story.

Newsroom Audit

I analyzed Moglea's website for information relevant to members of the media. The audit found that Moglea is missing many helpful components or does not have up-to-date information. This assignment helped me understand the perspective of a reporter and what information from the client would help reporters to quickly and easily write about the client.

Fact Sheet

I designed a fact sheet that can be sent to media contacts or included in a press kit on Moglea's website. The document includes all relevant information on Moglea's founders, products and audience.

Blog Article

I wrote a blog article on research findings that are relevant to Moglea's audience. This assignment allowed me to practice finding newsworthy information that can attract the client's target audience. I also learned how to present technical information in a clear and conversational manner for the public.

Acceptance Speech

I wrote and presented a speech in the role of Moglea's co-founder, Meg Gleason. The speech is given in acceptance of a community award, so I connected Moglea's business purpose to its contributions to the Des Moines community, where it is based. I also weaved in the story of Meg Gleason's family to give emotional weight to Moglea's products. The speech was voted by my classmates as the best of class.
